Well, here we are at the end of 2020. Woo hoo!!
Who knew, that the beginning of a new decade would be so insanely crazy…! ?
In all honesty, it has been an insanely amazing year. I don’t want to sound trite or rude to the countless people who have seen nothing but hard… however, I am incredibly thankful for this year.
It’s definitely one for the scrapbook!
Today, I’m sharing with you the top 10 posts that made you absolutely crazy on the internet. The posts that had you gathering your people around your table of good food. Posts that made you literally yell at me through the comment section. And the posts that got the most views of the year.
Alright, counting down the tops 10 posts of 2020, let’s get ready to rumble!
#10 Angry Lasagna
This recipe has y’all going absolutely nuts for lasagna! Since it was posted YEARS ago, it’s been in the top 10. It’s filled with fire-roasted tomatoes and spicy Italian sausage. Smoked Mozzarella and lots of ricotta give it that creamy dreamy texture you know and love in lasagna. This recipe makes enough for a CROWD, and I mean crowd! The *best* part about this recipe: you need to make it ahead of time. Win-win!
When I wrote this post several years ago, I had no idea how important it would be years later. With working from home, people needed a Mobile Office stat, and this post was just the one they needed! All your office needs, in one bag, that goes from room to room so you can work around your virtual learning kids, your work from home husband, and hide out in your closet.
Well, I’m not sure what is more appropriate… Individual Cheeseboards seemed to be the theme of the year. With social distancing and staying home and safe, this was the perfect “recipe” to have your cheese and eat it too. All your favorite cheese board items, on one cute wooden plate, for you to enjoy by yourself or six-feet apart from your neighbors, outside.
This air fryer teriyaki chicken & Brussels sprouts made waves—since most of us were at home, with either just us or only a couple of people… this quick and easy dinner recipe idea was perfect! Plus, it used the ever amazing air fryer that people became obsessed with in quarantine!
Italian Zucchini Bake is the recipe you need in the summertime when your zucchini is spilling over into your neighbor’s driveway. You chop a whole mess of it up with onions and roast them until soft. Then, pour a red sauce over top and sprinkle on mozzarella cheese. If you need an easy low carb side dish recipe idea, this is it!
Well, here is the super bowl snack of all snacks! It’s the car-rideable, on the go, edible gift idea that you need to make pronto. Cheez-it crackers are coated in ranch seasoning and fresh dill then baked until deliciously crunchy! These don’t keep long because people will be snacking over and over on them.
Well, I had declared 2019 the year of the cheese board, and boy does it show! This post was written in 2019 but really took off in 2020… With over 45 different boards to see, you can see examples of all kinds. I did get a lot of flack for it being a “misleading title” — but, people still spent lots of time on this post.
Another SUPER easy egg bake that is low carb and keto-friendly. This one is something I make on a Sunday evening and eat in the mornings when I’m getting ready. Bake it in a muffin tin to really be a time saver! It’s filled with sausage and onions and cheese and eggs and it’s the protein-packed punch you need to begin your day well. This is definitely the ‘New Year, New You’ low carb breakfast recipe you need in your life!
Y’all, you L-O-V-E these sprouts! And you have since I posted them YEARS ago! Roasted to crispy perfection with bacon, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze… These kept you going all year long. They’re a top 3 post every single month, for 6 years running!
Well, this dressing recipe is now quite famous. It’s the one we’ve made my whole life and y’all absolutely LOVED it! And you loved it, even more, this year! It was either the #1 or #2 post EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. That means in the 12 months of 2020, you needed some thanksgiving love. And I cannot tell you how much that warms my heart.
Here are some of the comments you all left:
“This is just like my mom’s stuffing recipe, and it’s the best! We love it so much we make a whole extra pan for leftovers ?”
“This is exactly how I remember helping my mom and nana make stuffing every year! I used to always sneak a bit of it raw during the day while we waited to cook it. So delicious and buttery!!”
“Made this for Thanksgiving this year 2019 my family loved this .this will be our family recipe now gonna show my daughter how to make this ?”
I cannot tell you how much I have loved reading your comments all over the internet talking about this recipe.
Lastly, y’all spent some TIME in my Amazon Influencer Shop!
You bought everything from paper products, to bar setups, to festive straws, and pots and pans, and baking supplies galore. Y’all purchased a TON of twinkle lights… Your homes are LIT!
Blogging can be rather isolating. It is so rewarding to read comments from you all – good or bad! – and realize that there are people all over the world making my recipes. THAT is why I started Sweetpea Lifestyle – to share simple entertaining ideas and easy recipes that help you gather your people around the table. Life starts at the table, and when you have good food to share with others, the community is built.
I’ve learned so much this year, I hope you did too. The one thing that I truly learned was that gathering around the table is sacred, and should never be taken for granted. My last dinner party was Alison Roman Night. It seems like a lifetime away, but also it feels like it was just last weekend…
Cheers to 2021 – can you believe it?!
Tell me what you’d like to see in the future below in the comments. I love creating for you all!
