This is the ONE recipe you’ll want to make the sloppy joe sauce for. It’s the one you can serve over and over – to crowds of people. It’s super simple and easy to assemble if you’ve prepped your ingredients ahead of time. <— Which might be my number one party planning tip. PLAN AHEAD.
Let’s recap a bit, what’s in Homemade Sloppy Joe Sauce?
- tomato sauce
- chili sauce (the kind you use for shrimp cocktail!)
- Worcestershire sauce
- yellow mustard
- apple cider vinegar
- brown sugar
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- seasoning salt
Let’s breakdown the sauce…
- The ONLY chili sauce you can buy for this recipe is Heinz. You’ll use the whole bottle. But, don’t throw it out – we’re going to add some things to the bottle…
- Into the chili sauce bottle, add the apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Shake it up really well, then dump into a mixing bowl with the brown sugar on the bottom.
- Whisk your brown sugar really well with the apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and the remaining chili sauce. (This way you don’t end up with clumps of brown sugar)
- Add your can of tomato sauce, mustard, a pinch of salt and black pepper. Mix it up and pour into browned ground beef and onions.
You could bring these to your tailgate this fall – everyone will want to be under your tent!
Need a few tips to help you create a great
tailgate setup complete with everything you’ll need.
- Go ahead and buy a tent like this, in your team’s colors.
- Get a few coolers, too. It doesn’t need to be fancy, but you’ll want plenty of them!
- You’ll want to fill a bin with items such as paper towels, wet naps, all kinds of serving ware, paper products and lots of cups.
- I like to use reusable items, so cups like these that you can even customize are so fun!
- Hop on Pinterest and search tailgating tips – you’ll be amazed at all the amazing things!
These sloppy joe tot-chos are topped with MELTED pimento cheese. Just make this pimento cheese, and melt it over a double boiler, or in the microwave in 20 seconds intervals. When the fall weather is here, you’ll want a giant sheet pan of this sloppy joe tot-chos recipe, ready for game day!

Sloppy Joe Tot-Chos are the ultimate appetizer for any tailgate party!
Ingredients
- 1 bag frozen tater tots, cooked according to the package
- 1.5 cups sloppy joe sauced ground beef
- 1 cup melted pimento cheese
- green onions for garnish
Instructions
Bake tater tots according to package – I like to bake mine a little longer, so they’re extra crispy.
Heat up the sloppy joe sauce over medium heat in a skillet, stirring around so it gets heated evenly.
Once the tots are cooked, top with sloppy joe mix, drizzle melted cheese over top, and sprinkle green onions on top before serving to a hungry crowd!
