Easy wedge salad recipe with bacon, cheese, fried onions, and ranch dressing.

From this picture, you can see this lettuce isn’t in “wedge” form — it’s cut into a disc! This is a classic take on Ina Garten’s Crunchy Iceberg Salad – using her “disc” method. Not only does the disc maximize space, it gives an even surface for all the good stuff to be piled high on top.

Wedge Salad was one of my first few posts on Sweetpea Lifestyle, wayyyyy back in the day!! #oldphotos…. I decided I not only needed to update the photos, but also the recipe. Most of the ingredients used in today’s salad recipe you probably have on hand. Which means, you can whip this baby up for supper this evening!

With any salad, it’s all about the ratios of “stuff” to lettuce, and for every bite, you want something of everything! (How vague is that statement?!) I love all the components of wedge salad, so it’s not hard to load each disc up with shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, cucumbers, fresh green onions, fried onions, and lots of ranch dressing. This salad by itself makes a great meal! Here are some great recipes for main dishes to go alongside:

To make this a crowd friendly recipe — just slice the discs onto a big platter (I’ve even used a plain sheet pan! No one should be judging you!), and created each salad without the dressing. Guests can top their salads with as much as dressing as they choose!

Now, go get yourself a head of iceberg lettuce and make a giant “wedge” salad! You won’t be disappointed.

  1. I love a simple wedge salad! I have never tried it with the fried onions on top, I’ll have to try it like that next time. #HomeMattersParty
