Especially around the holidays, a platter of warm cinnamon bread or rolls is just what Santa Claus ordered.
This easy recipe uses a package of Sister Schubert’s Parkerhouse Rolls, lots of butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and some chai spice. It’s all drizzled with a cream cheese frosting and will be the talk of the family kitchen from now on.
How to Make Sister Schubert’s Cinnamon Bread
First, you need a thawed container of Sister Schubert’s Homemade Rolls. I love keeping a few of these in the freezer for when I need a piece of bread at dinner time or need a quick appetizer or sweet start to the morning.
These little fluffy rolls are the warm rolls you know and love. And if you haven’t had them yet, find them in your local grocer’s freezer section.
Let me tell you, they’re the dinner yeast rolls you want to make without any effort.
I use them to make Naughty Hammie Sammies and Naughty Hammie Sammies 2.0!
When I know I’m making these cinnamon bread rolls, I tuck one pan into the fridge the day before so they can thaw.
You’ll slice the rolls in half, in one “circle,” leaving as many rolls attached as possible.
Slicing Tips:
- Use a sharp serrated knife.
- Flip the aluminum pan of thawed rolls over onto your cutting board.
- Remove the foil pan, then slice through the rolls using even pressure.
- Place the foil pan back over the sliced rolls, and flip over so they’re right side up.
- Now, comes the tricky part!
- If you have a wide spatula like this one, pick up the top of the rolls and set it to the side.
- I just flip the rolls over and place them as close to the pan as possible.
- You can remove one full roll, and when you’re ready to put the tops back on, place that one roll back in and complete the puzzle.
- Watching the video is super helpful!
After you’ve sliced through the rolls you’ll spread the buttery cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
Place the tops of the rolls back, and if you have a little remaining cinnamon sugar butter, spread it across the tops of the rolls.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, watching carefully so the sugar doesn’t burn.
Serving Pull Apart Cinnamon Bread
For this cheater homemade cinnamon roll recipe, you’ve got a few options for serving!
You can whip this up the morning of, and serve them right out of the oven with a creamy icing on top.
Or, you can slather on the cinnamon butter, place the tops back on the night before, then bake in the morning saving you about 10 minutes.
However you create these rolls, you’ll want to mix up the rich icing to pour over the tops of these sister Schubert’s rolls.
The icing is a simple mix of butter, creamy cheese, and powdered sugar. A little vanilla to make it fancy, too!
I like warming this icing up so it’s pourable and drizzling it over the whole pan of cinnamon rolls.
You could also serve the icing on the side, and let people add however much they want to their rolls.
The cinnamon rolls are very sweet and buttery on they’re own, so someone may not want the additional icing.
Either way, these will be a huge hit and create warm memories around your table.
A pan of these Cinnamon Bread Rolls with a hearty breakfast casserole like the Best Breakfast Casserole with Sausage is a fantastic way to enjoy a holiday brunch or anytime family breakfast!
These would also be amazing with a slice of Crustless Cheesy Ham Quiche!
