We all need a few tips and tricks for Thanksgiving! I think every year, I learn something new…
In my house, we’ve had the same menu for years and years. Even though we experiment with one of two new dishes, we usually don’t keep those around.
If you need an all-in-one Thanksgiving Menu, head over to that post! You can even download a Game Plan with your shopping list.
My family likes to stick to the traditional recipes we know and love twice a year. We have the same menu for Thanksgiving and Christmas – and we just love it!
A few things I’ve learned along the way…
Wash your potatoes in the dishwasher, on the rinse cycle. Maybe 5 minutes on the rinse cycle, too! Super quick and easy, all at one time!
Kraft paper and a Sharpie create a great tablescape. This table even has mismatched china + glasses + flatware on it!
Simple is best.
Want to see an example of what not to do?!
This was so much fun to create – but those little teepees?!
Two hours of my life I will never get back.
Did people love them?!
But they loved the kraft paper and sharpies even more!
Speaking of Game Plans – do it now! Get out a sheet of notebook paper, fold over the right margin, unfold and begin writing your lists out.
That photo up there went nuts on the interwebs!
So many people wanted me to send it to them, along with the recipes so it was all done for them.
Well, I made a blank Game Plan for you in my resource library, but you could also purchase a copy of the Holiday Hostess Handbook and really WIN the holidays!
The Thanksgiving Prep Hack checklist is included in this bad boy – along with how to set up your buffet table, how to assemble a cheeseboard, go-to recipes for appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, desserts you can pick up from the store. It’s FILLED with all kinds of helping tips and tricks!

Never in my life did I think about washing potatoes in the dishwasher. What a great way to speed things up!
It is amazing!! A couple of times I’ve let them go a little too long on the rinse cycle… which just speeds their cooking time up! 😉
I always feel like I lack in table setting decor. Love the idea of simplicity. Going out for supplies today to be prepared. Thanks!
Yep! It does not need to be fancy whatsoever!! I’ve found the fancier the table, the quicker people leave the table. 😉
What great tips! This is so helpful and such a stress reliever!
Yay!! So glad these were helpful!
