Blueberry Smash Spritz
A Blueberry Smash Spritz is a refreshing cocktail recipe
and you need it on a hot summer’s day.
Blueberries are muddled with mint, lemon, tequila, and soda.

We all need refreshing cocktails in the summertime, and this one is the perfect ‘porch-sipping drink.’
It’s super simple but filled with flavor.

What makes a spritz?
Aperol Spritz is the most common ‘Spritz,’ and is fabulous!
Usually, it’s a Prosecco + Bitter Liqueur + Sparkling soda combination.

Today, we’re doing pretty much the same thing without the bitter parts.

Get out your Ball Jars! They make great cocktail shakers!

Plop in a quarter cup of berries and a teaspoon of sugar.

Feel free to taste your blueberries and see if you can omit the sugar. The ones I’m using weren’t as ripe as I’d like, so I added some sugar.

Smash this around, and get the blueberries broken into the sugar.

Drop-in a few mint leaves, and muddle around.

Add a lemon slice, and muddle around.
Pro Tip: Remove your seeds before adding the lemon slice to the glass. The seeds are bitter, and by removing them, you keep your drink on the sweeter side.

Pour in an ounce of Cointreau — this sweet orange liqueur pairs perfectly.

Pop the top on some *good* tequila — like Teremana — and add an ounce to your jar.

Let’s have a chat about Tequila for a minute…
While tequila isn’t health food, it’s definitely not a bad liquor to drink.
We’ve all been there in college with a Jose Cuervo gold, that smells like a terrible thing is about to happen, and your evening ends terribly, and the next morning is even worse…
When you use 100% agave tequila, you won’t end up with a hangover. #winning!
100% Agave tequila is low-sugar and low carb — making this a win-win if you’re eating on the low carb/keto lifestyle.
Now, let’s talk about Teremana Tequila.
It’s deliciously citrusy and has a very smooth finish. You don’t get that pucker in the back of your jaw like with cheap tequila.
Yes, this is Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson’s tequila, y’all! I love that the heart behind this company is bringing people together.
Sweetpea + Teremana = match made in gathering people around the table heaven!

Add some ice to the glass, and get the lid and turn it on tight!

Give your Blueberry Smash Spritz a very, very, very good shake — like a full 30 seconds.
Count to 30 if you have to, and then count to 20…
How do you know when your drink is super cold and ready??
The jar will be super cold, and you’ll want to set it down. ?

Strain into a glass with fresh ice, and garnish with a slice of lemon and a few whole blueberries.

For a super festive touch, freeze your blueberries before garnishing in the glass.

Now, you may ask, can I make this for a crowd??
Sure! You have two options:

First, set everything out, with glasses and ice nearby, with a little handwritten instruction.
Guests can help themselves and make one — if you know someone who wants a “job” when they come to your house for a party, tell them how to make the drinks, and they can help others after you’ve shown them.
The second option is to make a drink dispenser full of this!
Here are the instructions:
- In a blender, blend a pint of blueberries with 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Add to a pitcher, and stir in mint leaves and lemon slices.
- Pour in one part Cointreau and one part Tequila.
- Stir this up really well, and chill in the fridge.
- When you’re ready to party, pour the Blueberry Smash Spritz into the drink dispenser, followed by soda water.
- Allow guests to fill their glasses with ice, and dispense their drink.
