Pimento Cheese

Pimento Cheese is a delicious Southern snack recipe that everyone loves! It’s perfect for sandwiches, spread on crackers, or baked into grits!

I have a couple of pimento cheese recipes on here that are unlike the traditional version.

But! Since it’s Tailgating Season, and we all need a list of go to snack foods, I thought I would share my version of the southern classic.

And I do not take the phrase “the best pimento cheese recipe, ever” lightly.

That is a bold, bold statement.

But it’s the truth, y’all!

Pimento Cheese requires a few essential things:

  1. Freshly grated cheddar cheese
  2. Duke’s Mayonnaise
  3. Mt. Olive Roasted Red Peppers
  4. Green Onions (or grated Vidalia onions, or both!)

While I love the little jars of pimentos, I would rather dice up some roasted red peppers for not only a different flavor, but the pepper pieces hold up better & longer.

The flavor of Mt. Olive’s roasted red peppers “juice” in the jar is a major secret to this recipe. <—– MAJOR!

Another absolutely, hands down, you can’t use anything else, but this brand ingredient is DUKE’s Mayo.

Now, if you aren’t near the Mason-Dixon line, you may not know what I am talking about…

But, get on the internet and order yourself some mayonnaise.

It is my childhood in a jar. Something so simple is incredibly sentimental to me.

Toni makes the best sandwiches, like her tuna salad, and every time I open one of these mayo jars, I think of her.

Good sharp cheddar is also essential, but it’s not really the brand of cheese.

You don’t need to get it out of the “fancy cheese” section.

However, you do need to grate it by hand!

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use the bagged stuff. No. Please, just no.

I recently purchased this countertop grater from Amazon, and I love it!

This cordless mixer from Kitchenaid does a great job mixing the pimento cheese without pulverizing it!
