Excuses. I know, I know! You *think* your home isn’t big enough, or it’s not clean enough… or you aren’t enough… WRONG. You are more than enough to open your doors, welcome someone in, and enjoy a little party together. Guess what?! A “party” doesn’t equal dozens of people… It can mean you plus a couple of other people. I host frequently, and very rarely is it more than my table can hold. ((Which is 4-5 people!)) Don’t sell yourself short because you think your home isn’t good enough. If they matter to you, your house and surroundings do not matter to them. 💜 It’s the home you’ve created within that space that matters! 💛 It’s the community you are cultivating together that matters! 💚 It’s the presence you give someone that matters! It’s a darling little stand that you choose which citrus you want freshly juiced then they pair it with a little simple syrup, soda water, and a maraschino cherry! I can’t get enough of them, even though I’ve only had 2 “real” ones in my life. With that lovely tale in your mind, let me tell you about the martini version. It’s the best! Fresh citrus juice. Iced cold Vodka Sweet Simple Syrup Tangy Grenadine. It’s a match made in heaven! Mix this up when you need a little refresher! Here are the ratios: 1 part Orange Juice 1 part Lemon Juice 1 part Lime Juice 2 parts Vodka 1/2 part Simple Syrup 1/2 part Grenadine Mix it all in a shaker, and shake, shake, shake! Strain into whatever glass you prefer and enjoy! Want to make this for a batch cocktail for a LOT of people?! Grab a bottle of OJ, a bottle of lemonade, and a bottle limeade. Mix those with 750ml of vodka and a jar of maraschino cherries! Sometimes, it’s a bit over the top, and lacking the “everyday-ness” of the point of hosting people… Here are FIVE things you do NOT need at your party! 1️⃣ Over the top, one-time-use items. I get it if it’s for a specific birthday, but even then… Do you really need all that stuff?! Try shopping your home first, and getting creative with what you already have! 2️⃣ Bad Attitudes. No one wants to be greeted by a bad attitude, whether you are opening the door, or the guest coming through it! Leave it at the door, or ask for help getting out of your funk. 3️⃣ Stuffy Food. It’s fun every once in a while, but people are there for you! Good food is what lures people to your table, but don’t feel like you need to make it a 5-star restaurant worthy meal every time. 4️⃣ Disorganized Chaos. We are all busy people! Know your own capacity and when you have a little more to willingly open your home. ((Every season is different, and each season doesn’t last forever!)) 5️⃣ Unintentional Expectations. You, the host, have an idea in your mind of what you hope your time together looks like! Let your people know your expectations and everyone will have a better time. Are you guilty of any of these?!
