Hot take: The reason a lot of us feel disconnected Hot take:
The reason a lot of us feel disconnected as adults…is because we’re all waiting.

Waiting to be invited.Waiting for the “right moment.”Waiting until life slows down.

But the biggest lesson I’ve learned?
👉 It is NOT about waiting.

It’s about becoming the one who invites.

And I get it—that can feel vulnerable.

“What if they say no?”“What if it’s awkward?”“What if it’s not perfect?”

But what if…
They’re waiting too?

What if your simple little invite is the thing that brings someone back to life a bit?

These days, I don’t overthink it.

I’ll text: “Hey, come over. I’ll make something simple.”

And that’s enough.

Because being the invite?

It’s not about hosting perfectly.
It’s about choosing connection—on purpose.

If you’re ready to stop waiting and start gathering…

Follow along. We’re doing this together 🤍

I’m not famous. In fact… I’m just a girl wh I’m not famous.

In fact… I’m just a girl who likes to open her door and gather people around her table 🤍

Hey, Y’all! I’m Ashley!

I live in Asheville, I believe candles should be lit on ordinary Tuesdays, and I will always choose a cozy night in with good food and even better conversation.

I’m the kind of host who:
✨ makes one thing and assembles the rest
✨ forgets something and laughs about it
✨ cares way more about how people feel than how things look

Because somewhere along the way, I realized…it’s not about the perfect menu or the prettiest table.

It’s about sitting across from someone—face to face, human to human—and remembering we’re not meant to do life alone.

So if you’ve ever thought:
“I wish I had people over more…” or “My house isn’t ready yet…”

You’re in the right place.

We do simple here.
We do cozy.
We gather anyway.

And I’ll be right here, helping you become the friend who opens the door 🤍

Follow along if you want easy recipes, low-stress hosting, and a little reminder that dinner parties can change the world.

If you’re the kind of person who keeps your free If you’re the kind of person who keeps your freezer stocked like a little life insurance policy… this one’s for you. 🤝

The girlies who:
• buy chicken in bulk and feel powerful about it
• want real food > packaged protein bars
• need something quick, satisfying, and actually delicious at 4pm
• and fully believe a crispy chicken cutlet can fix most things

Hi. Same. 🤭

I started making batches of these crispy chicken cutlets and keeping them in my freezer… and now I eat one almost every single day like it’s my version of a protein bar.

Except:
✨ it’s real food
✨ it actually tastes good
✨ it keeps me full
✨ and I don’t feel like I’m forcing it

They’re crispy, flavorful, and reheat like a dream — especially in the air fryer.

Honestly, they might be the most low-effort, high-reward thing in my kitchen right now.

And the best part?
They’re made with simple ingredients and freeze beautifully, so you can always have something ready to go.

This is your sign to become a “I always have something ready” kind of lady.

I didn’t mean to become a “soup & bread” gir I didn’t mean to become a “soup & bread” girl…

But somewhere along the way, it became my favorite way to host.

And honestly?
It changed everything.

Because here’s what I realized:

When the food is simple…👉 the pressure disappears👉 the conversation gets better👉 and people stay longer

No one is worried about impressing anyone.

We’re just… being human together.

There’s something about a warm bowl of soup and a hunk of bread that says: “Come sit. Stay awhile. You’re safe here.”

And in a world that feels busy and loud and overwhelming…
That kind of table?

It matters more than ever.

You don’t need a 5-course menu.You need a reason to gather.

So if you’ve been overthinking your next dinner party…

Make soup.Slice bread.Open the door.

If that feels like your kind of hosting, you’re in the right place 🤍

What I wish I knew when I started hosting… I th What I wish I knew when I started hosting…

I thought it was about perfection.

The clean house.
The impressive menu.
The table looked like it belonged in a magazine.

I thought if everything looked “right,” people would feel something special.

But I had it backward.

✨ Presence > perfection
No one remembers your baseboards.
They remember if you were with them or running back and forth to the kitchen.

✨ Connection > comfort
It doesn’t have to be perfectly timed or totally seamless.
Some of the best moments happen in the “oops” —when everyone’s laughing, helping, leaning in a little closer.

✨ Face to face > everything else
In a world where we text, scroll, and double-tap…sitting across from someone, eye to eye, human to human?

That’s the magic.
That’s the point.

I wish I had known sooner that hosting isn’t about creating a perfect night…

It’s about creating a space where people can exhale.

Where they feel seen.
Where they remember what it’s like to just… be together.

So if you’ve been waiting for everything to be “just right”…

This is your sign.
Light the candle.
Open the door.
Be there.

That’s enough 🤍
.

.

There was a time I thought hosting meant impressin There was a time I thought hosting meant impressing people.

The right recipes.
The perfect table.
A spotless home.

And if I couldn’t do it “right”… I just wouldn’t do it at all.

But the biggest lesson I’ve learned?

👉 It was never about the food.

It’s about how people feel when they’re sitting across from you.

Do they feel welcomed?
Seen?
Like they can exhale a little?

Because no one has ever gone home and said,
“Wow… her baseboards were incredible.”

But they will remember:
✨ how easy it felt to be in your home
✨ how the conversation lingered
✨ how you made them feel like they belonged

These days?

I make one thing well.
I assemble the rest.
I light a candle and call it done.

Because connection > perfection. Every time.

If you’ve been waiting until everything is “just right”…
this is your sign to open the door anyway.

How to turn hosting into a habit (instead of a onc How to turn hosting into a habit (instead of a once-a-year event)

Because hosting isn’t something you magically become good at…it’s something you practice.

And the secret?
You make it small enough to repeat.

Here’s how to actually do that:

✨ Pick your rhythm
Once a month. Same week. Same vibe.(Think: first Friday = “appy hour at mine”)

✨ Lower the bar (lovingly)
This is not a full dinner party every time.
Chips + dip. Soup + bread. Dessert + tea.
Consistency > complexity

✨ Create a go-to menu
Have 2–3 things you can make in your sleep
So you’re not reinventing the wheel every time

✨ Prep like Future You is your best friend
Set the table early. Make the dip ahead.
Give yourself the gift of being present.

✨ Keep it small
4–6 people is the sweet spot
Less pressure, more connection, better conversations

✨ Make it feel like you
A candle, a playlist, your favorite glass
This is your home, not a performance

✨ End before you’re exhausted
Leave people wanting more
(yes, this is allowed and powerful)

Because here’s the shift:

Hosting isn’t about impressing people…
It’s about becoming the kind of person who opens the door.

Again and again and again.

That’s how community is built.
That’s how loneliness gets interrupted.
That’s how your life starts to feel really full.

Save this as your gentle reminder 🤍
And if you’re ready to become that friend…welcome. I’ve been waiting for you.

Therapist: “Essential oils can help you relax.”Me: say no more…

immediately pours olive oil into a dish and aggressively sprinkles bread dip seasoning…

Because THIS is my version of aromatherapy 😌

✨ garlic ✨ herbs✨ a little kick of spice✨ warm bread ready for dipping

Suddenly my house smells like a cozy Italian restaurant and my problems?

Respectfully… less important.

Five pantry staples. Two minutes. And you’ve got yourself a “why is this so good??” moment on a random Tuesday.

I make this when: I need a quick appetizer. I want to feel fancy with zero effort, or I’m just standing in my kitchen needing a moment

Because apparently healing looks like: fresh bread + good olive oil + a little herby situation.

Honestly? I’m okay with that!

I can’t believe I’m sharing this with you… I can’t believe I’m sharing this with you…

Because this is the appetizer I pull out when I want people to think I did the most…when I absolutely did not.

Like… at all.

This is my “oh you thought I cooked??” moment.

✨ jar of marinara✨ a wheel of Boursin✨ maybe a drizzle + fresh basil if I’m feeling fancy

That’s it. That’s the recipe.

Five minutes.
Zero stress.
And somehow it’s the first thing gone every single time.

I’ve served this for birthday parties, last-minute happy hours, and those “come over, my house is chaos but I miss you” nights…and without fail?

Everyone asks for the recipe.
And then gets a little offended when I tell them how easy it is.

Because it tastes like you tried.

But here’s your reminder:You don’t have to try harder to host beautifully.
You just need one little thing that makes people gather closer to the table.

This is that thing.

Save this for your next “I should have people over” moment 🤍

Air fryer doing the Lord’s work again… hallelu Air fryer doing the Lord’s work again… hallelujah 😌

Because somehow:
🥔 humble little potatoes
🧅 a few onions
✨ a generous shake of Firecracker seasoning
…turn into something that tastes like you tried way harder than you did.

Crispy edges.
Soft, buttery centers.
That little spicy, savory kick that makes you keep going back “just one more bite” (it’s never one more bite).

And the best part?
This is a throw it in the air fryer and go live your life situation.

No babysitting.
No flipping a million times.
No oven heating up your whole house.

Just golden, crispy, “why are these so good??” potatoes every single time.

Serve them with eggs, next to steak, piled onto a dinner party plate, or straight out of the basket, standing at the counter like a civilized woman 💅

If your ranch is coming out of a bottle… we need If your ranch is coming out of a bottle… we need to talk.

Because THIS? This is ranch with standards.

Creamy. Tangy. A little bit extra (in the best way).
And she’s doing double duty as BOTH a dip and a dressing like the overachiever she is.

We’ve got:
✨ mayo + sour cream (because we believe in richness)
✨ chive & onion cream cheese (because plain ranch is boring)
✨ that nostalgic ranch packet (because we’re not above a shortcut)

Five minutes. One bowl.
And suddenly, your veggies, wings, fries, sandwiches, salads… your entire life… has improved dramatically.

I don’t know about you, but I am angry. I’m I don’t know about you, but I am angry.

I’m angry that people don’t listen.
I’m angry that AGAIN we have heinous disgusting things breaking the news, yet nothing is happening.
I’m angry that almost everything feels like a “too big to deal with” issue, so let’s just push it under the rug and let the cycle run.

But, y’all.

Those men are someone’s son, their husband, their father, their brother… yet, they walk the earth proud and free.

Someone raised them. Someone modeled behavior for them. Someone shared the idea. Someone gave them the confidence to click that, read that, try that…

Those women? They are someone’s daughter, their wife, their mother, their sister… yet, AGAIN, belittled and held captive in silence.

Someone raised them. Someone told them to dress modestly. Someone told them to “be smart.” Someone told them to watch their drink.

But, Ashley! You’re not political, you post about cute little dinner parties that can change the world.

Damn right I do.
And it’s about time I start being political.

Y’all, it’s not enough to like a post or share it and call it a day.

I need you gathered around your tables having REAL conversations about our world.

About doing better.
About learning and unlearning constantly.
About *actually* changing the world.

I don’t know about you, but I’m angry and tired and ready for cute little dinner parties to change the world.
Texting is cute. But you know what’s actually li Texting is cute.
But you know what’s actually life-changing?

Opening your door.

Setting out a board.
Pouring something bubbly.
Making fries just because you can. ✨

This is exactly what Sweetpea’s Supper Club is about.

Not perfect hosting.
Not performative dinners.
Not waiting until your house looks like a magazine spread.

But real, intentional, “come over anyway” gatherings.

Inside SSC, I give you everything you need to actually do this:
✨ done-for-you menus (yes, including moments like this surf & turf board)
✨ simple, realistic timelines (no chaos, no overwhelm)
✨ hosting game plans so you’re not scrambling at 5pm
✨ conversation starters that turn a “hang” into a moment
✨ and that little nudge to stop texting… and start inviting

Because here’s the truth:

The people you’re texting?
They’re probably craving this too.

And someone just has to go first.

Why not you?

🙋‍♀️ Hey, Friend! I’m Ashley!💫 And 🙋‍♀️ Hey, Friend! I’m Ashley!💫

And I have a slightly radical idea…

I think dinner parties can change the world. 🎉🫶

Not in a loud, headline-making way.

But in the quiet, human way that actually matters.

👉 The “come sit with me” way.
👉 The “you belong here” way.
👉 The “let’s put our phones down and remember who we are” way.

I’m the woman behind Sweetpea Lifestyle—and around here, we don’t wait for the perfect moment to gather.

We become the invitation.

We light the candle on a Tuesday.
We make one thing, assemble the rest.
We open the door, even when life feels a little undone.

Because connection doesn’t happen when everything is perfect.
👉 It happens when someone goes first.

A few things about me, since you’re here:

✨ I was born and raised in Asheville, and I still think it’s one of the most magical places on earth

🍸 I will absolutely serve you something in a coupe glass just to make the moment feel ✨important✨

🍝 I believe a simple meal shared at a small table is more powerful than the most “impressive” dinner party

📚 I read like a woman avoiding responsibilities (because sometimes… I am)

🎤 I stood on a TEDx stage and said “Dinner Parties Can Change the World”… and meant every word

♋️ I’m a Cancer through and through… which means I want you comfy, cozy, fed, and feeling completely at home the second you walk through my door

Here’s the part no one really says out loud:

Most of us aren’t actually too busy to gather.
😎 We’re just waiting for someone else to go first.

So let it be you.

📲 Text the friend.
🥔 Put out the chips.
🚪 Open the door.

Because one dinner party won’t change the world…

…but it might change yours.

If you’re new here, say hi. 🤍
And tell me—when was the last time you had people over?
.

Trial Reel 🎬✨ (and maybe a little trial run f Trial Reel 🎬✨
(and maybe a little trial run for your next dinner party, too…)

Hot take: your house does not need to be perfect to be full of people. 💛

Five hours before this Spring Appy Hour…
my home was a wreck.

Piles. Clutter. The kind of space that makes you think,
“Maybe we cancel…” 🙃

But instead?

I picked up the spaces we’d actually be in,
laid out a grazing board,
shook up a cheeky little mocktail,
and opened the door anyway.

And you know what?
It was magic.

Because it was never about the house.
It was about the people gathered inside of it.

Here’s what made the table:

✨ Hummus with carrots, pita crisps, and gluten-free crackers
✨ A “dip salad” (homemade ranch + lettuce chips + cucumbers)
✨ Ranch dip leveled up with green onions + cheddar + tortilla chips
✨ Shrimp cocktail in a coupe glass (because we deserve a little flair)
✨ A hydrating mocktail with homemade sweet & sour, coconut water, and sparkling water

Nothing complicated.
Nothing fussy.
Everything shared.

So consider this your sign (and your permission slip):

You don’t need a spotless house.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You just need to be a little brave.

Hosting isn’t about performance.
It’s about presence.

Open the door.
Set out what you have.
Let it be enough.

Because one little gathering might not change the world…
but it will change someone’s night. ✨

—

If you’re into this kind of hosting… stick around. I’m just getting started 💌

#dinnerpartyinspo #easyentertaining #hostathome #gatheraroundthetable #simplehosting
💪 Hosting is a muscle. The first time you invi 💪 Hosting is a muscle.

The first time you invite people over, it can feel like a big deal.

What should I cook?
Is the house clean enough?
What if it’s awkward?

But something beautiful happens the more you do it.

You realize dinner doesn’t have to be complicated.

Conversation flows easier than you expected.

Your friends don’t care if the napkins match.
And slowly, quietly… it gets easier.

Hosting becomes less about impressing people and more about gathering them.

Just like any muscle, the strength comes from repetition:
• one simple dinner
• one spontaneous invite
• one “come over, I made soup” night

Before you know it, opening your door feels natural.

And that’s where the magic lives.

Because dinner parties don’t change the world through perfection.
They change it through practice.

So if you’re waiting until you feel ready to host…

This is your sign.
Start small. Start messy. Start tonight.

✨ Dinner parties can change the world — and it starts with one invitation.

Save this for the next time you’re wondering if you should invite someone over.

I tested this recipe seven times… SEVEN. Becau I tested this recipe seven times…

SEVEN.

Because apparently this self-proclaimed non-baker has become a woman who kneads dough for fun now. 😂💁🏻‍♀️

But y’all… these Parkerhouse Rolls are worth every bowl of flour I wiped off my counters.

They’re soft, buttery, honey-kissed, and full of those pretty little layers that make you want to tear one open while it’s still steaming.

There’s something beautiful about doing a “mundane” task like baking bread.

It slows you down.
It softens you a little.
And then—just like magic—you get to share warm, golden rolls with people you love. ❤️

If you need a cozy win in the kitchen today…

If your pimento cheese is gloopy… we need to tal If your pimento cheese is gloopy… we need to talk.

Respectfully.

Because pimento cheese should be:
✨ cheesy (not mayonnaise soup)
✨ textured (not whipped into oblivion)
✨ and when you bake it… it should come out bubbling, golden, and doing this 👀

This is my Baked Pimento Cheese Dip and she is the moment.

I’m talking:
🧀 hand-grated cheese (always)
🧀 just enough Duke’s to bring it together
🧀 roasted red peppers + green onions for flavor
🧀 baked until melty and scoopable perfection

And listen… the REAL secret?
👉 Pickled jalapeños.

Either mixed in or bite-by-bite on top. That little hit of acid + heat cuts through the richness and makes you go back for just one more scoop (you won’t stop at one).

This is the kind of dip people hover around.
The kind they ask you for before they leave.
The kind that turns a random Tuesday into a “wait… this is special” kind of night.

Because simple things?
Still deserve to be celebrated. 💛
