I bought a CHEESE BAKER on Amazon, because apparen I bought a CHEESE BAKER on Amazon, because apparently this is exactly who I am now. 😂 And I regret absolutely nothing. A little spoonful of marinara in every well, a hunk of mozzarella on top, then into the oven until everything is hot, melty, bubbly and begging to be scooped up with warm baby naan. THAT’S IT. But here’s why I really love this thing: it’s a PARTY TRICK. ✨ Bring this bubbling little beauty out while everyone is standing around the kitchen with a drink in their hand and suddenly we have an EVENT. And obviously my brain is already going… → pizza versions with pepperoni → baked brie bites → goat cheese + hot honey → spinach artichoke something-or-other → individual little queso situations → ALL THE HOLIDAY THINGS This is exactly the kind of hosting piece I love buying: not something that sits in a cabinet waiting for one specific occasion, but something that makes an ordinary “come over for a drink” feel FUN. I fear I have made the CRUNCHIEST chicken tenders I fear I have made the CRUNCHIEST chicken tenders of my life. 😳 And yes, I realize I say things like this with some regularity. BUT LISTEN TO THAT CRONCH. These started with chicken tenderloins hanging out for four hours in buttermilk seasoned with BBQ seasoning + ranch powder. Then things got a little out of hand. Into seasoned flour + cornstarch. BACK into the buttermilk. And then I looked at the cornflakes and the half-bag of Honey BBQ potato chips in my kitchen and thought… Well. Obviously these belong together. 😂 Crush them up, PRESS them all over the chicken, and fry until those tenders are deeply golden, craggy, crispy little pieces of heaven. And because apparently making outrageously good fried chicken wasn’t enough of a project for one afternoon, I made a BIG batch. Some became dinner. Some are becoming Chicken Bird Dogs. Some are becoming crispy chicken lettuce wraps. And a whole bunch are currently hanging out in my Homemade Convenience Freezer because Future Me deserves crispy chicken, too. I’m testing whether I can take them straight from frozen → air fryer → back to CRONCHY. We shall see. 👀 But the fresh ones?! 10/10. No notes. Especially dunked directly into my homemade honey mustard. 11 kitchen products I actually use ALL THE TIME. T 11 kitchen products I actually use ALL THE TIME. These are the kitchen appliances, cookware, serving pieces, storage tools, and little helpers that have earned their spot at Chez Sweetpea. Some are splurges, some are downright cheap, but every single one gets used. Say YES, CHEF to get the link! Plot twist: I don’t drink coffee. 😂 I use my SMEG coffee maker every single morning to brew loose-leaf tea! Brewing the tea directly through the machine gives me a strong, full-bodied cup without dealing with tea bags or individual infusers. One of the most-used appliances in my kitchen. The appliance that lives in my coat closet... and somehow comes out several times a week. 😂 I use my multicooker for homemade bone broth, collard greens, shredded meats, soups, and all kinds of meal prep. Apartment kitchens require every appliance to earn its storage space, and this one absolutely does. If you see me cooking something on the stove, there is a VERY good chance I’m using my Made In 6-quart saucier. Sauces, soups, pasta, braises, Bolognese—you name it. The rounded sides make stirring so easy, and the size works beautifully when I’m cooking for myself OR feeding a table full of people. Glass jars forever and ever, amen. 🙌 I use Weck jars and Ball jars for homemade bone broth, salad dressings, sauces, leftovers, meal prep, and refrigerator storage. I’ve owned some of mine for a DECADE. Buy the useful thing once and keep using it—that’s my kind of kitchen essential. HOSTESSES, THIS ONE. 👀 Sheet pan lids are one of my favorite tricks for make-ahead entertaining. Build most of your cheeseboard or charcuterie board directly on a quarter or half sheet pan, snap the lid on, refrigerate, then finish it right before your guests arrive. Future You says THANK YOU. Proof that a favorite kitchen product doesn’t have to be expensive! This inexpensive Walmart plate has a slight lip, stacks beautifully, and doubles as an easy serving platter for appetizers, snacks, sandwiches, desserts—you name it. Future Me Friday starts on Tuesday! 💌 And today, Future Me Friday starts on Tuesday! 💌 And today, I’m making one of the hardest-working things in my fridge: New Ranch. Say “I need New Ranch in my life!” in the comments for the recipe! Y’all, this is a two-fer! I make one batch and divide it in half. Half stays nice and THICK — exactly how I want ranch dip to behave when I’m scooping it up with cauliflower, carrots, chips, or whatever else needs dipping. Then I thin the other half with a little milk, and suddenly I’ve got homemade ranch dressing ready for salads, wraps, chicken, bowls… You get the idea. One recipe. Two jobs. An entire week of possibilities. 🙌🏻 And this is exactly what Future Me Friday is about. I’m hosting a little Happy Hour this weekend, and I already know New Ranch will make an appearance. So instead of waiting until Friday afternoon when I’m trying to get everything else ready, Tuesday Me is handling it now. Cathy’s Chicken got herself a CHEESY CRUNCHY TOPPE Cathy’s Chicken got herself a CHEESY CRUNCHY TOPPER, and frankly, I don’t know that we can ever go back. 😍 This is the comforting, cozy, creamy baked chicken recipe you’re craving when you want dinner to taste like somebody loves you. Tender chicken. That creamy, savory sauce. And NOW… 🧀 1 cup shredded cheddar 🧅 1 cup French’s Crispy Fried Onions After the chicken has baked through, mix the cheddar and crispy onions together, sprinkle that glorious situation all over the top, and pop it back into the oven UNCOVERED for another 10 minutes. The cheese gets melty. The onions stay crispy. The edges get a little golden and bubbly. GOOD GRACIOUS. 😮‍💨 It’s giving cozy Sunday supper. It’s giving somebody’s mama brought you a casserole. It’s giving “I’ll just have one more little scoop.” And as we start easing our way into fall cooking, THIS is exactly the kind of dinner I want coming out of my oven. Worrying about whether everyone has enough. Jumping up the second someone needs something. And meanwhile, the beautiful table you created is full of people laughing together… ...without you. 🚫 No ma'am! One of the biggest shifts I've made in the way I entertain is realizing that hosting doesn't just hold other people. It's supposed to hold the host, too. I want to sit down. I want to eat the food while it's hot. I want to hear the story that makes everyone howl with laughter. I want someone else to refill my glass. I want to look around my table at the end of the night and think, “Gosh, I needed this too.” That's why I prep ahead. That's why I take shortcuts. This is exactly the kind of “prep” I love. Not spending an entire Sunday meal prepping. Not eating the exact same lunch out of a plastic container for five days. Just taking something I already love to eat and making it ridiculously convenient for Future Me. I slice up my chicken, add my marinade, thread everything onto skewers, and pop them into the freezer. Then when I need an easy protein? 🔥 Grab a chicken skewer 🔥 Pop it into the air fryer at 400°F 🔥 Cook for about 10–12 minutes, or until the chicken reaches 165°F 🔥 DINNER IS READY TO RUMBLE. But here’s where Future Me REALLY wins... If Friday afternoon suddenly feels like a “Y’all come over for Happy Hour!” kind of afternoon, I can toss a whole batch into the air fryer. Add a dip. Something crunchy. Maybe a little salad. Pour the drinks. I have food for people without having to start from scratch. THAT is why I love my Homemade Convenience Freezer. It's simply asking: What can I do today that Friday Me will be ridiculously grateful for? Not because I'm trying to optimize every second of my life. Quite the opposite. I'm preparing ahead so I have more room to actually enjoy it. More time to pour the drink. Turn up the music. Make something delicious. Invite someone over. Sit down at my own table. And enjoy my home instead of constantly tending to it. That's what Future Me Fridays is all about. One little thing now that makes life easier later. I don’t think we need a birthday, a holiday, an an I don’t think we need a birthday, a holiday, an anniversary, or some perfectly reasonable excuse to set the table and invite people over. Sometimes the occasion is simply: We’re all free on Wednesday. I made something good. There’s a bottle in the fridge. I haven’t seen your face in a while. Come over. 🤍 Because I truly believe dinner parties can change the world. Not necessarily the big, entire-world kind of world. Our world. The little world right around us. The people we love.

The people who have been saying “we should get together soon!” for six months. A table gives us somewhere to show up for each other. And I think we need more of that. More random Wednesdays with cloth napkins. More “I’m making dinner, come over.” More pulling another chair up to the table. More opening the bottle we were saving. More using the pretty things simply because we’re here to enjoy them. You don’t need an occasion to gather people around your table. I popped these back into their bag, so I could serve the next day… But they’re even better right from the roasting pan, all warm and seasoned. Go to the grocery store. Buy the already-fried chicken. Bring it home. Reheat it until it's HOT and CRISPY. Then make this ridiculously easy Sweet + Spicy Glaze and pour it alllllll over the top. SWEET + SPICY GLAZE 🧈 2 tablespoons butter� 🍯 3 tablespoons golden syrup (regular pancake syrup works, too!)� 🧄 1 garlic clove, sliced in half� 🌶️ 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning—or measure with your heart Add everything to a small saucepan and warm over medium-low heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sauce is glossy and emulsified. Then pour that sticky, buttery, sweet-and-spicy goodness all over your reheated fried chicken. THAT'S IT. Put it on your own platter. Add a little garnish. Carry it out like you spent all afternoon making it. TAKE. THE. Because fall hosting should feel cozy… not chaotic Because fall hosting should feel cozy… not chaotic. This is the season for lingering around the table, something warm in the oven, candles flickering, and people staying just a little longer than they planned. And I want to enjoy that part, too. So these are six things I get out of the way BEFORE the doorbell rings: 1️⃣ Anything that can be prepped ahead 🔪 Herbs chopped. Cheese grated. Vegetables prepped. Garnishes ready. Serving pieces pulled out. If I can do it earlier, I do. (Fall hosting = something delicious bubbling away in the oven, not me frantically chopping an onion.) 2️⃣ One make-ahead moment—minimum 🥘 A dip waiting in the fridge. Everyone else can start whispering about pumpkins and sweaters and soup season… I am still standing at the kitchen counter with a bowl of tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, and a baguette, thankyouverymuch. Because this little stretch of late summer? When the tomatoes are almost showing off because they know their days are numbered? **This is when you make the bruschetta.** My Tomato Bruschetta is one of those recipes that barely needs a recipe—which is exactly how late-summer cooking should feel. 🍅 The best tomatoes you can find 🌿 Lots of fresh basil 🧄 Fresh garlic 🧅 Shallot ✨ Capers AND a little splash of their brine 🍷 Red wine vinegar 🫒 Good olive oil 🧂 Salt + pepper Mix it all together and let everybody get acquainted in the fridge for an hour. Then spoon it generously over warm, crusty toasted bread. And if you really want to gild the lily?
