Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 LB, Thick-Cut Bacon (I prefer Wrights brand)
  • 2 TBS Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Line a half-sheet pan with parchment paper. (It helps to crinkle the paper up first before laying in the sheet pan!)
  2. Line the baking sheet with as many slices of bacon that will fit, without touching.
  3. Place the bacon in a COLD oven, then turn it on to 350 degrees.
  4. Allow the bacon to render for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  5. Drizzle the two tablespoons of maple syrup over the bacon strips, along with one teaspoon of red pepper flakes and one teaspoon of black pepper. I use a silicone basting brush to evenly coat the bacon strips. No need to flip them over!
  6. Place the tray back in the oven and roast for another 10-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your bacon and your crispy bacon preference.
  7. Remove the bacon just shy of when you think it’s done. Once it cools, the bacon gets crispier! Be so so careful! The hot maple syrup will burn you!
