Home Organization – After Holiday Routines + HM #167

Home organization is a priority in January — and it should be! What better way to start your year than ruthlessly going through your home, organizing for the new year. 2017 was spent decluttering, A LOT…. So, for me this year, I don’t really need to do much, just keep going in the get rid of something if I purchase something, if it hasn’t been used in a couple months toss it, and the constant culling through whatever else I’ve been holding on to. Decluttering isn’t a one time thing, it is an ongoing process — that once, you have done the hard work first, it becomes easier and easier! It should be a constant “motion,” not a once a year thing.

To begin the year well though, I was needing to create a new routine. Which started with setting aside time in my agenda to actually plan to plan! Below I have my round up of planner prdocutivity tips — hopefully these will resonate with you, and will inspire you to make January a productive month!  #HomeOrganization #HomeMattersParty

Planner Productivity Round Up!

These 10 tips for Using a Day Planner for Maximum Productivity is SO SO good! My favorite tip is the last one… The BIG Picture! Keeping the big picture always in mind, helps you fill in your “why” for each task, event, etc on your agenda. Everything needs a why — so you have the motivation behind it to get it done. In order to maximize home organization, you need to maximize the productivity of your planner. Make it work for YOU!

Abby’s post on How to Be Insanely Productive Every Single Day talks about time blocking, and how planning your day hour by hour is super helpful in the long run. I love that at the top of the free printable is the To Do section — great for home organization!

In order to do all these great things, you have to actually PLAN to plan! I choose Sunday evenings — this is when I go over my week, what I have coming up, confirm appointments, etc. It really helps begin my week well, and creates a sense of purpose. This helps me check in with what home organization projects I want to focus on — I have top 5, and the top three are priority.

  1. I am a planner nerd, I love writing it in and checking it everyday. These ideas are all awesome, but my favorite was the big picture and the to do for the year. Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty

    1. Yes!! I am with you — focusing on the big picture changes my perspective most times when I’m feeling frustrated by my schedule. Thanks for stopping by, Jenny!

    1. Thanks, Kristen!! My mother has called her calendar he “life book” for forever… and it’s so true!!

  2. I love my planner and I love finding helpful printable planner sheets like these around. Bloggers are so nice to share them, for free! #HomeMattersParty

    1. I use my digital calendar to set reminders for myself — but, like you, I just can’t use a digital calendar. Even if I type things in, I don’t remember them like I do when I use pen and paper!
